Billy Corgan, frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, and his wife Chloe Mendel have welcomed their third child, a daughter named Juno Corgan. The couple announced the news on Tuesday.
In a statement to People, Corgan shared that both mother and baby are doing well. “Chloe is recovering, and baby Juno is happy, healthy, and nursing with gusto,” he said. “We are touched by the outpouring of support and thank everyone who helped make the home birth peaceful and safe.”
Corgan also shared that their older children, 9-year-old Augustus and 6-year-old Philomena, are excited about their new sister. “They can’t wait until she’s old enough to play,” he added.
Corgan and Mendel began dating in 2013, got engaged in 2022, and married the following year. Their first child, Augustus, was born in 2015, and their daughter, Philomena, arrived in 2018.
This has been a significant year for Corgan, both personally and professionally. The Smashing Pumpkins released their 13th album, Aghori Mhori Mei, in August, and they will head on a European tour in July. Corgan also launched a new podcast, The Magnificent Others.
Additionally, Corgan will join Black Sabbath’s “Back to the Beginning” reunion show on July 5 in Birmingham, England, which will feature performances with Tom Morello and Tool’s Adam Jones. Corgan described the collaboration as a “cool thing,” adding, “Tom, Adam, and I all grew up in the same area, so it’s great to play together.”
